What we collect

If you create a Dainik account, we store your name, email address, and a securely hashed password. We never store passwords in plain text.

Browsing public pages — prices, patro, samachar, weather, or any other tool — does not require an account. The only data recorded during general browsing is standard server logs: your IP address, the page requested, and a timestamp. These logs are kept temporarily for security monitoring and abuse prevention, and are not used to build profiles.

How we use your data

Account data is used exclusively to authenticate you and, where applicable, to persist preferences (language, theme) across sessions. We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any form of automated decision-making.

We never sell personal data. We do not share it with third parties except where required by applicable law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.

Data retention

Account data is retained for as long as your account remains active. Server logs are retained for up to 30 days, after which they are permanently deleted.

If you delete your account, all associated personal data is erased within 30 days. Aggregated, anonymised usage statistics may be retained for product improvement purposes.

Cookies

We use a small number of essential cookies:

  • A session cookie to keep you signed in when you log in
  • A preference cookie to remember your light/dark theme choice
  • A language cookie to remember your language setting

None of these are used for tracking, advertising, or analytics. We do not use third-party cookies.

Third-party services

Dainik integrates with a small number of external services that may process limited data:

  • Google OAuth. If you choose to sign in with Google, we receive only the name and email address associated with your Google account. Google's own privacy policy governs the initial authentication flow.
  • Cloudflare R2. User-uploaded images (e.g., profile pictures) are stored in Cloudflare's object storage. Cloudflare acts as a data processor under our instructions.

Prices, news, exchange rates, and market data shown on Dainik are aggregated from public third-party sources (see our Disclaimer). We are not responsible for those sources' own privacy practices when you follow a link out to them.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Request a copy of all personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent

To exercise any of these rights, reach out via Contact. We will respond within 30 days.

Changes to this policy

If we make significant changes to how we handle personal data, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify users via email or an on-site notice. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
