Gold & Silver Price in Nepal
Today's published rate for fine gold, tejabi gold and silver — per tola and per 10 grams.
About gold and silver prices in Nepal
Gold occupies a place in Nepal that goes well beyond investment. It is central to weddings, to Teej, and to household savings — particularly for women, for whom jewellery has historically been one of the few directly-held assets. That makes the daily rate genuinely consequential news rather than a market curiosity.
Who sets the rate
The Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers' Associations (FeNeGoSiDA) publishes a reference rate on each trading day. Nepal produces no gold of its own, so the rate is essentially the international spot price translated into rupees, plus import duty and the local dealer margin.
Why the price moves
- International spot price. The dominant factor — global gold is priced in US dollars and moves on interest-rate expectations and risk sentiment.
- The USD/NPR rate. Because the metal is imported and priced in dollars, a weaker rupee raises the local price even if global gold is flat.
- Import duty. Nepal caps and taxes bullion imports; changes here feed through directly.
- Season. Demand rises sharply around the wedding season and major festivals.
What you'll actually pay
The rate above is for the metal alone. A finished ornament also carries making charges (jyala), which vary with the intricacy of the design, plus VAT. When selling jewellery back, expect a deduction for purity loss and workmanship — which is why gold bought as ornament rarely returns the full quoted rate.
