Petrol price in Nepal today

Petrol (also called gasoline) is the most commonly used fuel for private vehicles in Nepal. The price per litre is set by NOC and includes the base cost, transportation, dealer commission, excise duty, VAT, and depot-distance surcharge. Petrol in Nepal tends to be more expensive than diesel because it is taxed at a higher rate.

Diesel price in Nepal today

Diesel is the fuel of choice for commercial vehicles, trucks, buses, and heavy machinery, and is also widely used for agricultural pumps and generators. NOC typically prices diesel lower than petrol to support transportation and farming.

Kerosene, LPG, and aviation fuel

Kerosene is used in rural Nepal for cooking, lighting, and heating. LPG (cooking gas) cylinder prices and aviation turbine fuel (Jet A-1) rates are also published by NOC and shown in the breakdown above for each region.

Why fuel prices differ by region

NOC's base price is set nationally, but the final retail price differs by depot/city group because transportation cost from the Indian border (via Indian Oil Corporation) varies with distance. Cities near the border, like Birgunj, Biratnagar, Nepalgunj, and Dhangadi, get the lowest price; inland cities like Kathmandu, Pokhara, and Dipayal pay more because fuel has to travel further from the depot.
